Baby Toys »Choosing Toys |
|
Your choice of toys in his first 3 years should reflect his changing needs: |
• |
Simple toys last longer and are better for imaginative play. |
• |
Toys do not need to be expensive. Children often get the most fun from the toys that cost nothing and are objects that can be found around the house. |
• |
Recycle packaging to use as a toy - large boxes, which are used for household appliances, make great playhouses or painting backgrounds. |
• |
Babies need toys that stimulate their five senses. Choose toys that introduce different colours, textures, shapes and sounds. |
• |
Older babies prefer building, particularly 'put-in, take-out' toys; bricks of different sizes are ideal. As your child grows, he'll be able to manage interlocking blocks and more advanced shape-sorters. |
|
|
Preschool children enjoy drawing, painting, imaginative play, and simple games that improve concentration. Keep an eye out for garage sales as they are a great source for second-hand toys. Always check there are no missing or broken parts and no peeling paint.
