Baby Feeding » Breastfeeding after a Caesarean
Although the breast milk usually comes in within three days after the birth, it can take one or two days longer following a caesarean. It is especially important that you eat well, drink plenty of fluids and rest to help this process. You may find it uncomfortable to breastfeed in a sitting position if you have had a caesarean. Experiment with positions that will not put any pressure on your tummy, like lying on one side or holding your baby with his feet tucked under your arm on the same side as he is feeding from.
