Indian Baby Feeding » Allergy Watch
It is much easier to find whether your baby is allergic to certain foods or not. You should try new taste foods one by one not all in one shot. Allergic reaction includes:
1) Skin rash
2) red bottom
3) wheeziness
4) vomitting
5) diarrhoea
6) swollen stomach
If you have a history of eczema or allergy in your family, be particularly careful about introducing new foods. Some experts believe it is best to wait until five months before offering fruits, as young find it difficult to cope with the fructose in them. Many babies also show an intolerance to wheat products, so it is important to choose gluten-free foods. Coeliac disease is an extreme allergic reaction to gluten in wheat, rye, oats and barley. Intolerance to cow's milk, which affects about two percent of babies under a year, can be due to a reaction to the protein in the milk or an inability to digest the lactose also present. A severe reaction, such as swelling and difficulty in breathing, is rare (anaphylactic shock). vomitting or a rash usually occur 12-18 hours after exposure, making it difficult to detect which food was responsible. Nuts and eggs are also common causes of allergy, because of the immaturity of baby's digestive system.
